She also created an "Enthusiastic Mama" blog that ran from 2015 -2016. She self-published and promoted a novel called Hoop Mama in 2013 through Fast Pencil.
She has given local, regional, and national workshops on various writing topics thanks to her 15+ years as a grant professional.
Shankland lives near Indianapolis with her husband, two sons, two dogs, and two cats. She enjoys volunteering for various local organizations, hoop dancing, reading, and walking everywhere she possibly can.
