Rules
1. Entry must be submitted using the form below by MIDNIGHT (EST) on October 31st, 2019.
2. Entry must be the BEGINNING ONLY to a completed, unpublished story or novella.
3. Entry portion must be no more than 500 words.
4. Entry form below must be filled out completely in order to submit any genre that fits the contest requirements (scary opening scene) by 18+ age participant.
5. Entrants understand that by submitting the below form they agree with all rules and terms of the contest, including that judges' decisions are final.
6. No current affiliates of Tell-Tale Publishing Group, LLC, are eligible to enter this writing contest.
7. Entrants retain copyrights to their entries, but understand that the winning entry may be used in a limited way and short duration for contest PR by TT. Winning entrant may, if they wish, submit to TT for publication consideration.
8. Entries will be judged by impartial volunteers from the writing community, using this evaluation rubric. Names and author identifiers will be removed before each judge receives entries. In the event of a numerical "tie," each judge will rank in order of preference. [If it is known that a judge knows a particular entrant, regardless of anonymity, that judge will not be given that entry in their list of entries to evaluate.]

Prizes
1. The First place winner will receive the Vincent Price Award for the Scariest Story, and be allowed to display it proudly on their website, et al., a 25.00 Amazon Gift Card.
2. First place winners (up to three) can have their story/novella reviewed by an editor to be considered for publication by TT's Nightshade Imprint. [Eligible for our Oct. 2019 Thriller Anthology.]
3. Second place winner will receive a 15.00 Amazon Gift Card.
4. Third place winner will receive a 10.00 Amazon Gift Card.
5. All entrants will receive an honorable Mention certificate, and their name and story title will be displayed on our website until next year's Halloween Horror Party.
